The new mode of action hypercalcemia in Harmonix^® Rodent Paste is highly effective on all target rodent species and in particular those resistant to anticoagulants.

Addressing the question of primary and secondary poisoning risks

In practice, the risk linked to the use of Harmonix Rodent Paste for primary poisoning of birds and for secondary poisoning of dogs is quantified in the examples below.

Primary poisoning:

Amount of bait to be ingested by a 1kg mallard duck to reach LD50*

Lethal amount: In terms of primary poisoning risk, 133 sachets of 20g of Harmonix Rodent Paste would have to be ingested to reach LD50 in a 1kg mallard duck.

Secondary poisoning:

Number of 25g mice to be ingested by a 10kg dog to reach it's LD50 through secondary poisoning**

Lethal amount: Based on the residue found in mice***, about 10,000 mice baited with Harmonix Rodent Paste would have to be eaten by a 10kg dog to reach LD50.

As a result, Harmonix Rodent Paste is a relevant option when primary or secondary poisoning risks are a concern.

*Mallard duck: Cholecalciferol LD50 > 2,000 mg (a.s.)/kg bw

**Dog: Cholecalciferol LD50 = 88 g (a.s.)/kg bw
