Which other pests pose a threat?

Pest infestations are behind a number of health issues in the EMEA region. Vector-borne diseases from mosquitoes are one example. There are also diseases caused by unsanitary conditions which may be due to pest and rodent infestations in houses, and buildings. These pests include flies, cockroaches, ants, rats, etc.

This has prompted serious discussion about the problems of unsanitary conditions and public health in cities, and how to solve them.

Facts and figures

Due to climate change and global warming, these threats to public health are increasing. Growing populations and population density in cities also play a part.

  • In 2020 there were an estimated 241 million cases of malaria and 627,000 malaria deaths worldwide*

  • In 2021 280 million suspected cases of malaria were tested and 148 million cases of malaria were treated*
